This stop-motion animation starring a bunch of British toy soldiers and exploding fruit brought a nice smile to my face.  Enjoy!

Pitchfork Presents: Danny Brown - “Gypped by a Crackhead”

If I had to choose 2 all-time favorite things in this sad little world, it would be rap music and re-runs of Hanna Barbera’s classic cartoon, Top Cat.  In the Pitchfork sponsored video featured above, new era Detroit MC Danny Brown retells a back-in-the-day tale of how he was ripped off by a crackhead.  The kicker?  Instead of a simple interview, the story is reenacted by Hanna Barbera-esque cats….in the projects.

Jacob Sutton & Lil Buck

Ever since the amazing collabo between Yo Yo Ma and Lil Buck that was filmed by Spike Jonze a few years ago, I’ve been yearning for more Buck stuff.  And of course listening to cello incessantly.  Check out the above video, with Buck clad in Givenchy from head (or waist) to toe, dancing around a spinning box.  Dude is wild.  Still not really into Azaelia Banks tho.

Google Project Glass

The future is upon us, and it appears to be awesome.  Above is a video preview for the hotly anticipated “Google Goggles,” or as they’re calling it now, Project Glass.  This pair of i-glasses (tee hee) augments your reality with information and allows you to interact with your friends, your social network and the world at large.  Based on my understanding of the 10/10 rule, we should see these dominating the commercial space in about 10 years, at which point I presume they’ll be implanted in our brains.  For now, we’ll just have to wait.

Niggas in Paris at Midnight

Who hasn’t wilded out to Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Niggas in Paris” at least 15 times this year?  Furthermore, high brow readers of Call Me Prince undoubtedly adored Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, one of 2011’s finest films…but both seemed to be missing something.

When The Throne’s latest video dropped, you might’ve been disappointed that the boys didn’t take to Paris a la G Unit in the “Window Shopper” video.  You also may’ve had 3-5 epileptic seizures.  And when kicking back in the theater and watching Owen Wilson act like a complete pussbag, weren’t you thinking “this would be way better if there were more designer label references and gyrating asses”

Well my friends, your prayers have been answered with the “Niggas in Paris at Midnight” which brings you the best of both projects (club knocking beat, views of one of the world’s finest cities) without the unnecessary nonsense (Kanye in a skort, dialogue).  To be honest, I think the video mash up fellas could’ve done a better job with some more interesting cuts, but the concept in and of itself was worthy of a post.  I’m jus sayiiiiiin

Indian Stowaway Acrobatics

I guess this video is making the rounds right now and apparently has caused quite a bit of a stir.  Check out these young houligans as they catch a train departing from a local station, riding on the side of the car and doing all sorts of wacky tricks which clearly should not be tried at home/by the homeless.

Apparently the video has a bunch of people up in arms about how unsafe this is, with India’s Railway Minister even coming out and condemning the actions taken by these young hoodlums.  Anyone who has lived in India probably isn’t even that impressed with these moves.  People ride like this all the time in India, and yes, they die sometimes.  The Minister knows that and if they really cared they should probably stop the trains in the big cities that have like 500 people riding on top of them, don’t you think?

Frankly, I’ve seen better, but I gotta say that running move was kind of the shit tho.

Raekwon quoted in the Illinois State Senate

Who knew that dumb white broads in public office took Chappelle’s Wu-Tang Financial skit so seriously?  C.R.E.A.M., baby!  Word to Shallah!  By the way, if you haven’t checked Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, I couldn’t have asked for a better follow up to OB4CL2.  Cop dat.

Yo-Yo Ma & Lil Buck - “The Dying Swan”

One of CMP’s favorite directors, Spike Jonze, presents one of L.A.’s finest breakers, Lil Buck, reinterpreting the The Dying Swan from Saint-Saens’s “Carnival of the Animals” as performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who has the most hip hop name of any cellist on the planet.

I don’t really know why, but this legitimately brought tears to my eyes.  I’m not sure if it’s because we can see how far Asian/African American relations have come since Menace II Society, or because there’s something beautifully sad and breathtaking about Buck’s performance, but if you need a little beauty in your day, please take a look.
